Big Sky Vacation Home in Big Sky, Montana
The house is a massive log home nestled on three sides in 20 acres of pristine pine forest with the western side of the house situated at the edge of a meadow on a ridgeline providing incredible views of Lone Mountain and Moonlight Basin ski areas. Lone Mountain Ranch’s upper x-country trails pass through the property making for excellent hiking trails in the summer. The house is constructed of 18 inch Canadian cedar logs that are works of art throughout the layout. The kitchen has extensive granite countertops and top of the line appliances. A local property manager is available to have the house ready for your arrival and handle any house problems that should occur during your stay. Relax in a seven person hot tub at end of the day while you watch the sun set behind Lone Mountain. Summer thunder storms forming around Lone Mountain in the evenings can make for spectacular viewing. White water rafting and fly fishing on the nearby Gallatin River are several of the most popular summer activities close to the house along with horse rides and numerous hiking trails all within 15 miles of the house. And, Yellowstone Park with its many geothermal geysers, waterfalls and wild life viewing is within an hours drive.
Approximately 1 hour from Bozeman Gallatin field airport. Big Sky and Moonlight Basin resorts are within 15 minutes of the house. A short hike from the house gives you access to Lone Mountain Ranch’s cross country trails.
Abundant wildlife, elk/deer/moose move through and bed down near the house during the spring/summer/fall seasons of the year.
After selling a ski-in-ski out house in Moonlight Basin that we had built in 1996 to get more elbow room, we were the first purchasers of one of the eight, 20 acre Lost Trails Retreat lots. We had this house architecturally designed and then constructed by Radick Construction using a Durfeld Log package that was assembled in Vancouver Canada, disassembled and trucked to Big Sky.
